Hi Haley,

thank you for your question 🙂

It is best to cover all the bones to extract all the flavor from them. The meat can be partially submerged in the cooking liquid.

I had one question: Although you state 6 cups of water, do I need to make sure the bones are covered by water? When I make pho on the stove top, I’ve always made sure to slightly cover all bones and ingredients with water so wanted to ask as this is the first time I have made pho in the IP.M5 stars

I have been LITERALLY obsessed with it for days now and have made this recipe three times over for my husband and I. Like, we have legit eaten pho for days at this point. This is the second time ever that I’ve texted friends and family to make sure they know about a certain recipe. My only tweak has been to use rib bones with a cut of chuck meat, increase the rock sugar to 30 grams, and have those pho bullion cubes on standby in case you weren’t able to source the suggested bones/cuts of meat to get that hearty beef taste.5 stars

Since I had already made a KILLER beef stock in my PC when I found this recipe, I finished it on the stove. The seasoning was GREAT! My husband was stunned that I had made pho (he didn’t know WHAT I was cooking in there), and he LOVED it.
I’ll be making this again soon!5 stars

Hi Eliza,

thank you for your kind words and question 🙂

The Pho will be richer and stronger. Try and see which style of soup you enjoy more. You can pressure cook all the bones and spices for 2 hours in the Instant Pot. Add in the meat and the rest of the ingredients and cook for another hour.

Take care & have fun cooking

I am always using your website as a reference when ever I’m using my instant pot. Its really great that someone is knocking down the hurdles for me! I especially appreciate the break down of time and ratios in your recipes and what the out comes are. You are letting me make the best decision for myself because of that. Top notch, thanks!

Question: Since Pho is cooked anywhere between 6-18 hours, what would be an equivalent time to do this in the Instant Pot? Also, would it make the Pho more richer if cooked longer than 1hr in an instant pot?

Thank you in advance!
