That’s a very good point. I have modified the thickening step so everyone know they will have to simmer for a few minutes to cook the flour.

Either make a roux to get rid of the raw flour taste (and add a little flavor by browning it to the tan/brown color depth of your choosing) or use corn starch. Otherwise, using this recipe as a base because everything else looks perfect. I know it will be good. I’ll be using corn starch because making a roux would be extra effort that doesn’t fit in very well with the procedure used in the original recipe. Hard to go wrong with any type of beef and mushroom gravy! I’ll give it even more umami by adding in a mixture of cremini, dried shiitake and porcini mushrooms. I’ll also serve it over rice, as you describe, because that’s what my wife likes. I’m gonna try your instant pot buttered cabbage, too. Looks yummy. Thanks.
